Money, finances, budgets, issues…

Being financially responsible is not something that you learn in school. But maybe we should. When you get to adult life, you realize that, out of nowhere, you now have a lot of responsibilities that you have to take care of. Almost all of these new responsibilities will have something to do with money. Soon you notice that you actually have no control over money. You have no knowledge about finances or how to budget. And you will learn, but you will make a lot of mistakes first. But what if we had more financial knowledge before we had to jump into adulthood? Maybe that would have saved all of us a lot of problems.

I started my adult life without knowing how to take money out of an ATM or how to get a credit card in my name. Not many years have passed, but I have learned a lot from every single mistake that I made along the way. I do firmly believe that a finance class should be compulsory in high school. During the development years, it is important to learn what your future will be like and have enough tools so that you can make wise decisions and avoid mistakes. The main problem with those "mistakes" is that they can cause actually harmful problems that may even ruin your life. Is important to be mindful about money, not spend more than you earn, and to know how to budget your monthly income so that you can have savings and spending money.

I could give out a lot of tips about finances that I learned these last years. But I'm not someone who should be giving out this kind of knowledge. It would be best to have a specialist explaining everything they can so that we can all learn from it. So why don't we all have the possibility to take a class like that? Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this way. But wouldn't you have liked to take a finance class that taught you how to budget when you were a teenager? I really want to know if anyone else finds them as necessary as I do.
